What We've Been Up To in Oct/Nov

Play Date with Zac, Elijah and Natalie at Uncle Eugene's and Auntie Amelia's house. That's me checking out Zac's cool toys.

That's me at Ikea playing at an activity booth. We like to go there for breakfast sometimes.

Daddy and Mummy popped by JB for a date with each other and with Mr Bak Kut Teh, Mrs Sesame Chicken and Miss Ginseng Chrysanthemum Tea. The coffee shop may be shabby but the food certainly isn't (so says Daddy and Mummy... I can't be sure about it cos they didn't bring me along).

We went swimming at Uncle Chung Jye's place except nobody was doing the swimming except me. Daddy and Uncle Chung Jye just sat around the jacuzzi pool and talked. In case they refute that, I've asked Mummy to post the picture of them doing so here.

We've been building things out of the Duplo blocks which Uncle Royston and Auntie Angeline passed to us before they left for Sydney. Actually, Daddy's the one who has been doing the building. Mummy only knows how to stack them up to make towers of varying heights (of which there can be only so many variations) and I only know how to dismantle the Duplo structures. Above is a picture of the giraffe Daddy made and had me pose beside.

Uncle James, Auntie Germaine and didi Gabriel came to visit us. :)

This is us riding the sky train at the airport. Daddy and Mummy brought me there to see the airplanes.

At the play corner at T3.

We thank God for each day we have as a family and for His providence and love for us. We're really looking forward to December when we'll be going for church camp at Port Dickson and also celebrating the birth of Jesus. :)

Chatterbox

Ethan has been picking up lots of new words lately, especially in the past month or so. We marvel at his ability to take in new sights, sounds, touch and tastes every day; basically we're amazed at his enormous propensity to learn! He's always exploring - touching, prodding, poking, throwing, spinning, examining, picking, patting, pushing, pulling and tasting (ok, this one we're not so wild about). His excitement and joy in exploring and discovering new things each day simply amazes me. There's a lot adults can learn from children in this respect. :)

Thought I'll just record down the words (besides daddy, mummy etc) Ethan can say so far. Here goes:

bye bye, cup, ball, cold, nana (banana), car, bear, star, pat-pat, wet, walk, please, go, no, bread (no surprises here), milk, flower, tree, grapes, cloud, cross, me, Amen, bus, apple, thirty (cos that's the floor that we live on), two (which the waitress at Thai Express taught him), baby, comb, peach, nose, eye, toes, spoon, key, cartoon, pen, cat, pear, button, bag, belt, albert (alphabet), man, blanket, circle, square, bubbles, up, down, press, keep, plants, kick, step, windmill, raining, so pretty, arrow, airplane, turtle, duck, moon, exercise, fish, orange, shark, rabbit, cheese, sleep, open, close, exit, leaves, penguin, train, water, yogurt, jump, book, tear, tongue, bottle, zhu (as in Mandarin for pig), bao bao (as in Mandarin for carry).

Ok, that's all I can recall for now! :)

A Most Disagreeable Day

It's 7.40pm now and I've already put ethan to bed so as to put an end to this most disagreeable day. I think he must have woken up from the wrong side of his bed (even though there is really only one side to wake up from - the one that is not facing the wall) because he was really grouchy the whole morning, the whole afternoon and the whole evening (until 7.20pm that is). So it has been essentially the entire day that he has been moody. Took much persuasion to get him to take his morning nap; woke up shortly. Utterly refused to take his afternoon nap - cried and wailed, threw everything out of his cot. Wanted to eat everything in the house except what I cooked for him - spits food out, flings food around. Demands "Bread, ah, bread!" throughout the day. Cries when put down in cot, cries when put down on my bed with me, cries when I put him down in his room to play with his toys, stares at me blankly for a while and then cries when I say in exasperation to him "Ethan! Mummy doesn't know what you want!". He flings his duplo harder when told not to fling it at all, grabs the dirty wheels of his pram at least 5 times so I have to heave him to the toilet to wash his hands 5 times, crawls around the house and switches on all the switches including the one for the iron (yup, HDB now caters for homeowners who are very very short), turns the dvd player on and off at least 20 times. Doesn't want to read his books, doesn't want to play with his toys, doesn't want to sleep. I think the one thing he probably would have wanted to do was to eat bread, which I already gave him. I can't possibly keep giving him bread the entire day, no?

I think towards the end of the day he was just really tired so the best thing to do was to put him to bed. Well, he's asleep now after much crying and wailing. I think I'm going to look for some really really dark chocolate..

Ethan Walks!

Ahh... Ethan decided, yesterday evening, that he would walk on his own much to the delight (for now) of his daddy and mummy. Ethan himself was pleased as punch to be able to take his first steps. Hurrah, ethan! Next up, somersaults. :)

Ethan's Favourite ABC Song

Ethan has been learning his alphabet (or as he calls it, 'albert') and he absolutely loves this version of the alphabet song which his daddy found on utube. So far, Ethan knows, reliably, the letters T (which he also calls 'cross' because the small 't' looks just like one), O, X and M, with the letter M being his favourite letter of all time (erm.. 'M' for Mummy? :) . He would sometimes make his own way to the study room and point to the computer and say "M" repeatedly which is his way of indicating that he wants to watch the before mentioned clip. When the song gets to the the letter M, he almost always says 'M' clearly and happily. Anyway, the song has been stuck in ben's head and mine and we sometimes unconsciously sing it to ourselves. But ethan will get a riff of it and it's like "Ding!" and he does his "M.....m...m". And we watch the clip for the 137th time of the day...

Can't seem to upload the video of him enjoying the clip. Will try again another time. :)

Daddy - Our Very Own Home Entertainment System :)

30 Minutes on the Southern Ridges

We decided to take a walk on the Southern Ridges one Sat evening as the weather was so beautiful and because the Hort Park was just a short drive away. This was our first time there. We had a lovely time even though it was a short walk - cos it was getting dark and close to dinner time. I liked the green and the quiet, ethan was captivated by the flowers and trees while benjamin kept looking down and telling us how high we were and asking if it was safe or not. hahaha.. We hope to go there again soon. :)

My Favourite Times of the Day

Eating Time
I love breakfast time, lunch time, afternoon tea time, dinner time and supper time! If I spot you holding a banana, apple, bread or a bowl with a spoon in it, you become my best friend in the world. Sometimes, i crawl under the dining table just to be sure that the floor is free from any crumbs but I never find anything cos Mummy keeps the floor clean, too clean in my opinion..

Reading Time
I love to pull out my books from the shelf and fling them on the floor for easier reading. I try to read ALL my books at least twice a day which explains why I pull out ALL my books from the shelf each time and scatter them all over the floor. I don't understand why Mummy bothers to put them back each time. I like to be read the same book repeatedly so beware, once you start, there's no turning back.

Play Time
I love to play with things like my windmill and my cup. I like things that spin and that I can throw around and make a lot of noise with. I spend a lot of my time playing.

Nap Time
I still need my pacifier to help me get to sleep though Mummy has been trying to wean me off it by taking it out of my mouth once she thinks I'm sleeping. But sometimes I know when she does that and will protest till she pops in back again. I take 2 naps in a day.

TV Time
Oh, I do enjoy my TV time. I like to watch the DVDs that Daddy and Mummy borrow from the Queenstown library. I am currently watching Baby Einstein's Baby Galileo which is about things in the sky. I overheard Mummy attempting some of the quiz questions during the DVD Bonus Material segment and she got many of the answers wrong. Mummy, if you keep giving Pluto as the answer for every picture of a planet, of course you will get one correct! Tsk Tsk...

Bath Time
I look forward to my baths which I get twice a day; once after lunch and another after dinner. I like to splash about until the kitchen floor and Mummy are wet and till there is a layer of foam in my bath water.

So these are my favourite times of the day. Come to think of it, they make up my entire day, everyday! Thank God for a wonderful life! :)

Ten

At 2 weeks:

At 10 months:

It is amazing how much ethan has grown over the past 10 months. We marvel at how he is so fearfully and wonderfully made by God. We also marvel at how faithful and gracious God has been to our family in the past 10 months, providing for us, giving us strength for each day and also leading and guiding us in understanding and obeying His will for us in our lives. A short 10 months ago, Benjamin, myself and Ethan were in vastly different places, doing vastly different things from now. We thank God for His providence and also for opening the various doors for us. We look forward to learn what He has in store for us. :)

Some things about Ethan at 10 months:

- He has 8 teeth now and can cause grievous hurt to human flesh. He is very cute and sweet but whatever you do, never let him bite you not even when he says "please" (which he can't anyway).

- He can crawl faster than his parents run to get to daddy's shoes.

- He looks much more dignified going under the tight space beneath the study table than his daddy or mummy look when they try to do the same to get him out.

- His favourite food: banana, apple, weet bix, mango, toasted oats, grapes, bread, cheese, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, tofu, macaroni, beef, salmon, sweet potato, pumpkin, kiwi, milk, spinach, rice, cod fish, yoghurt, pear, green peas, potato, egg, tomato, red peppers.

- His favourite Bible verse: "Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things."
Ps 107:9

-He claps his hands when he's happy or, when you sing "If we're happy and you know it" and when you speak excitedly to him. Unfortunately, he also claps when you scold him at times.

He'll be one in two months' time! :)

My First Holiday Trip

Dear Friends, Family and Followers of My Blog,

So I am finally going on my first holiday trip! Yipee!

After hearing Mummy and Daddy talking about it for months, it seems that we are finally going on my first trip pretty soon.

At first, Mummy and Daddy were thinking of going to Sydney or Perth. But then I overheard them talking about some "journey being too long.......the little boy......making noise....scare other plane passengers...." and stuff.

So the trip to Sydney/Perth was shelved.

I don't know who that little boy is and why he wants to make noise and scare other plane passengers. But if I ever see him, I'm gonna bite his nose off.

Anyway, Mummy and Daddy decided that we would go to some exotic beach resort in Kuantan. I heard something about Swiss Garden and stuff. I am not sure where Kuantan is but I think it should be somewhere in Switzerland. Switzerland is in Europe just in case you don't know =)

In His Love,
Ethan Kong

P.S. Mummy told me that "the little boy" they were talking about lives right in my living room! Apparently he lives in this black box there. I have been trying hard to get to him but I just can't reach him yet. Once I start walking (and trust me, that will be very soon), I am gonna catch him and bite him.

Video of me "almost" catching the little boy is attached below:
